What is baptism and how is it conducted during worship services?
Baptism is a visible expression of an inward decision to follow Christ.
- "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved," (Mark 16:16).
Baptism does not earn salvation. It's simply God's way of allowing us to show that we believe in what Jesus did for us on the cross and that we're trusting in Him alone to save us from the penalty of our sins.
- “God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God,” (Ephesians 2:8).
Baptism by immersion illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection, and it identifies us as having received a new life. Each weekend worship service at Kingsway is concluded with an invitation to become a Christ-follower. If you come forward during this time, a pastor will introduce you to a decision counselor who will talk to you about your decision (to become a Christ follower and/or be baptized). If you are ready, you will be immersed at the conclusion of the service; robes, towels and changing rooms are always ready. Or, if you prefer, you can set a future date to be immersed. [top]
What happens during communion in worship services?
The Lord’s Supper (communion) is the memorial Jesus gave to remind us of the price He paid – He gave His life - for our sins. All Christians are invited to eat the bread and drink the juice after quiet meditation. [top]
