For everyone

  • Wojciechowski, Susan. The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. We are extremely grateful for Mrs. Wojciechowski's generous permission to create a dramatic adaptation of her beautiful book for our Christmas weekend services.

Home Baggage For everyone:
  • Yancey, Philip. "What's So Amazing About Grace?" This is a wonderful book that will help you to understand and embrace the need for grace in your life. Yancey is both freeing and convicting in his writing style, and leads us to the place where we realize that if God has loves us like this – then we must also love others in the same way.
  • Sande, Ken. "The Peacemaker." This is a tremendously practical book with some great step-by-step nuggets on how to forgive, restore, and rebuild broken relationships. It will deal with your own heart, as well as the conflict that exists between you and the other party as you seek to bring about peace to broken relationships.
  • Peacemakers.net. This website is full of articles and resources that both come from the above book, and are in-addition to it. It has a number of useful resources that I recommend checking into if you are experiencing relational brokenness and un-forgiveness.

Home Margin For everyone
  • Swenson, Dr. Richard A. "Margin." This is known as the go-to book on margin and the need for margin. It’s a great resource to offer insight, conviction, and personal application.
  • Cordeiro, Wayne. "Leading On Empty." This was written by a pastor of a large church in Hawaii. After he hit a serious wall in his life, he realized the need to do life different. His answer wasn’t just stop doing everything, but to put things in perspective and balance. A great resource for any leader or parent.
  • Lifechurch.tv sermon series, "Margin." This sermon series is from a healthy, large, and growing church called Lifechurch.tv. Criag Groeschel is the pastor, and does a very good job in communicating God’s Word in a humble and convicting way. He shares some of his own failures and lessons learned as a pastor of one of the fastest and largest churches in America.

For everyone

  • Proverbs 31-day reading plan
  • Stanley, Andy: “The Principle of the Path." The bottom line of this book is that “Direction, not intention, determines your destination”. In other words, our intentions don’t equal much if we don’t do anything to actually head in a different direction.
  • Stanley, Andy: “The Best Question Ever.” A great book that has a wonderful question that I won’t give away. However, you’ll hear it throughout this sermon series if you pay close enough attention

For students

  • Stanley, Andy, and Heath Miller: "Up 2 U." The student version of Andy Stanley's "The Best Question Ever."

For kids

  • New International Revised Version: "Adventure Bible for Early Readers." If the beginning of wisdom is knowing God’s Word – then let’s give the kids a “word” that they will read. This is a great Bible for kids and what Kingsway Kids uses.
  • Hill, Nancy: "The One Year Did You Know Devotions" for kids. This fun devotional book Kingsway Kids receive when they are baptized. Daily devotions give kids random facts tied into important truths in God’s Word.

Home Unstoppable For singles
  • "Boundaries in Dating." As a student pastor, I had to be well versed in the topic of love and dating, and this was the best overall book I found. It makes a strong argument for dating, but also gives very practical “how to” suggestions.
  • Stanley, Andy: "The New Rules for Sex, Love and Dating." This is simply one of the best sermon series I’ve seen for singles. He covers all the major topics really well. You can download this through your itunes for walking, jogging, and working-out too.

For married or singles

  • Driscoll, Mark: "The Peasant Princess: A Love Story from the Song of Songs." This is one great, and juicy, biblical book of love. Driscoll offers some timeless marriage and pre-marriage advice. You can download this through your itunes for walking, jogging, and working-out.
  • Driscoll, Mark: "On Church Leadership." An excellent tool to understand the biblical roles of men and women and how they play out in church life. It will take you about an hour and half to read it.
  • Feldhahn, Shaunti: "For Women Only." A great little book that will help women understand the men (especially husbands) in their lives a little bit better. Of course, there is no such thing as “all men are like this”, but the concepts in this book are far more right than wrong.
  • Feldhahn, Shaunti: "For Men Only." See the above comments. Same type of book; only, this one's for men.

For married couples

  • Eggerich, Emerson: "Love and Respect." Great book, but for a quick summary, read this.
  • Groeschel, Craig: "Once Upon a Marriage." A very practical and helpful series on marriage by an excellent communicator. You can download this through your itunes for walking, jogging, and working out.
  • Chapman, Gary: "The Five Love Languages." This is a great and simple little book that will help you realize that you communicate love differently than your spouse. This isn’t just men/women differences. These are five unique patterns that both men and women display in showing love to others. Recognizing your love language and your spouse’s love language is very helpful to appreciating them more and speaking their language better.
